Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, once one of the most famous couples in the Indian film industry, experienced a lot of sadness due to their breakup.
Did you know that Indian film producer and screenwriter Kiran Rao says she and Aamir don’t need any paperwork to explain their relationship?
In a recent interview, Kiran Rao, the director of the film ‘Missing Ladies,’ spoke about her divorce from Aamir Khan. She emphasized that she is very happy even after the divorce.
Kiran said she is content with the divorce decision because she has the support of both herself and Aamir’s family.
She said, “I believe relationships need to be redefined from time to time because we change as we grow. We need different things.”
The director added, “And this (divorce) is what I felt would make me happy, and honestly, divorce has made me very happy.
Discussing the topic of divorce further, Kiran Rao said, “Before I married Aamir Khan, I was single for a long time. I really enjoyed my freedom when I was alone, but now I have my son. So I don’t want to be alone.
She added, “I think loneliness is something most people worry about when they get divorced or lose a partner. Fortunately, my divorce turned out to be very positive for me.
The filmmaker mentioned, “It wasn’t easy for Aamir and me to end our 15-year marriage. It took time for both of us to reach this point emotionally and mentally.
She also said, “We need to be secure in knowing that we’re not going anywhere. We’re here for each other for the long term, but we don’t need to be married.
Aamir Khan met Kiran Rao 20 years ago while shooting for ‘Lagaan,’ where Kiran was one of the assistant directors.
Kiran Rao mentioned that the decision to marry Aamir Khan was influenced by family pressure. Before marriage, they lived happily together for a year, but they had to get married because of their families.
It should be noted that Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan announced their separation in 2021. After the divorce, their professional lives were unaffected, and both families still hold each other in high regard. The former couple also shares a son named Azad.
