Indian actor and dancer Vidya Balan has captured the hearts of fans in both Pakistan and India by performing dialogues from the Pakistani drama serial ‘Lapata’ in the Bhojpuri language.

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan is widely recognized not only for her acting and dancing but also for her active presence on social media, making her a beloved figure.

On Instagram, Vidya Balan shared a short video where she lip-synched to a few dialogues from ‘Lapata’. The scene involves a serious conversation between characters played by Sara Khan and Ali Rehman, where Ali Rehman’s character is upset with Sara’s for not waiting for marriage.

Vidya Balan’s rendition in Bhojpuri added a humorous twist to the serious dialogue, making fans laugh. Supporting the girl’s decision not to wait for marriage, Vidya delivered the line, “Would I have grown old waiting for you?”

The drama serial ‘Lapata’, aired in 2021, has been controversial since its debut. It includes several scenes depicting women’s humiliation and oppression.

In the first episode, Geeti (Ayeza Khan) threatens a shopkeeper with false harassment allegations if he asks for money after she shops, a video of which went viral on social media.

Human and women’s rights activists raised strong objections to this scene, but Hum TV management did not respond to the criticism.

During his absence, Falak marries her boss, Daniyal (Gohar Rasheed), who becomes increasingly paranoid, leading to mental illness.
