Victor Adeboye, a soccer player in England, was sidelined after suffering a back injury caused by a violent sneeze. Adeboye, who plays for Bolton Wanderers in League One, the third tier of English football, sustained the injury during a severe sneeze.
Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt confirmed Adeboye’s injury, stating, “We have scanned him, and the results will be out soon. He was fine after the game against Charlton, but then he sneezed really hard.”
Following the sneeze, Victor Adeboye felt a small crack between his ribs. “We hope it’s just a cartilage or muscle issue, but we won’t know for sure until we see the scan results,” Evatt explained. He jokingly added, “Victor is such a powerful athlete that even his sneezes are powerful.”
This incident is not the first of its kind in football. In 2009, Scottish footballer Kirk Broadfoot was injured in the face after a microwave egg exploded, leading to his hospitalization.
