Dania Shah, the former wife of the late Pakistani TV host Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain, has reportedly been receiving threats due to her recent remarriage. As a result, Dania and her current husband, Hakeem Shahzad Ahmed, have requested government protection.
According to reports, Justice Asim Hafeez of the Multan High Court heard the petition submitted by Dania Shah and Hakeem Shahzad Ahmed, requesting security. The petitioner claimed that Dania had received threats via international phone calls, warning of serious consequences if she did not end her second marriage. Despite a report being filed with the relevant authorities, no security measures have been provided to her yet.
During the hearing, the petitioner mentioned that he had requested security from the Home Secretary of Punjab, stating he was willing to cover the costs himself. Additionally, it was reported that Hakeem Shahzad had received threats, demanding he divorce Dania Shah immediately, or face being shot dead.
The petitioner further explained that Dania Shah had first married the well-known religious scholar Aamir Liaquat Hussain. After his death, and upon completing her period of Idda (waiting period), she married Hakeem Shahzad Ahmed. They are currently living together in Shujaabad, near Shahpur.
Justice Asim Hafeez has requested responses from the Deputy Commissioner and the CPO of Multan by September 17.
It is worth noting that last month, Dania Shah confirmed her second marriage to Hakeem Shahzad through a video statement, following which the couple held their wedding ceremony.
