Kalki Koechlin Reveals her Experiences with Polyamorous Relationships

Recently, in an interview, actor Kalki Koechlin talked about her experiences with polyamorous relationships and shared the challenges and boundaries involved in a non-traditional partnership. Kalki Koechlin, once married to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, looked back and said that communication and understanding are important parts in each consent among adults. Polyamorous relationships are those in which one has more than one romantic or sexual partner, with consent from all parties involved.

When asked if monogamy were unrealistic in today’s world of options, Kalki elaborated to say that both monogamy and polyamory are choices. “I don’t think monogamy is too much to expect because it’s a choice. Having options is pointless unless you actually choose one. Just like polyamory has its own strict boundaries and rules, so does monogamy. All parties must agree to these rules before entering the relationship,” she shared in an interview with Hauterrfly.

She was further asked if she could handle a polyamorous relationship now. Laughing, Kalki said, “Now that I’m married and have a child, I don’t think I have time for that because you barely even have time for your own partner.” Reflecting on her past, she continued, “I think it’s doable, but you need to be clear about your boundaries and the rules.”

She further delineated such boundaries when she said, “For example, it may not work with someone from your close circle. I don’t think you can form deep connections in a polyamorous relationship. Although I know people who have successfully maintained polyamorous relationships, even raised kids, it was different for me. At that time in my life, I wasn’t ready to settle down, so it worked as an experiment. But I don’t know if I could be as committed to it long-term.”

During the interview, Kalki Koechlin also let out an important update about her personal life-the fact that she has married her long-time partner Guy Hershberg.
