Moeen Ali, who had already retired from Test cricket, has now announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. He was not selected for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia.
Ali made this announcement during an interview with a British magazine. He stated, “I am 37 years old and was not picked for the series against Australia. I have played a lot of cricket for England, and it’s time for a new generation to take over.”
He further expressed, “I feel this is the right time to retire. I have contributed my part, and while I could still play, I believe the team needs to move in a new direction. I have always been proud to represent England.”
For context, Moeen Ali has represented England in 68 Test matches, 138 ODIs, and 92 T20 matches.
