Yasir Hussain recently shared the story behind his public proposal to Iqra Aziz at the Lux Style Awards. He revealed the truth years after the event, explaining what led to the proposal during the award show.
Yasir and Iqra married on December 28, 2019, and welcomed their son, Kabir Hussain, two years later.
Yasir chose to propose to Iqra in a memorable way by presenting her with an engagement ring at the Lux Style Awards on July 7, 2019. During the proposal, he kissed Iqra on the cheek, which received mixed reactions on social media.
In a podcast with Ahmad Ali Butt, Yasir explained that the proposal was pre-planned. Fareeha Altaf, an event organizer, wanted a viral moment at the awards show, and she knew Yasir and Iqra were planning to marry. She suggested the public proposal idea.
Yasir had already proposed to Iqra privately and met her mother. He shared that, like Farhan Saeed’s iconic proposal to Urwa Hocane at the Eiffel Tower, Iqra wanted a dramatic and memorable proposal. Fareeha suggested Yasir propose at the award show, something that had never been done before. Yasir agreed after some hesitation, wanting to fulfill Iqra’s wish for a grand gesture.
To keep Iqra’s reaction genuine, she was not informed about the plan. Designer Ali Zeeshan offered to design their outfits for the awards. Despite Yasir’s nerves and initial reluctance, Fareeha insisted he go through with it.
Yasir performed on stage with Saba and then proposed to Iqra, an event that quickly became iconic. He admitted he was nervous and forgot his prepared speech but was thrilled that the moment was a success.
